Award Success is Cause for Celebration at
Chivas Brothers
Chivas Brothers is celebrating
an outstanding start to 2007 after winning an impressive
five awards from Whisky Magazine’s World of Whiskies Awards
and Scottish Field Magazine’s Whisky Merchants’ Challenge.
The company has also been short-listed for an award from the
Spirit of Speyside Festival for The Glenlivet Distillery.
Chivas Brothers’ latest
accomplishments include a Silver Medal for A’bunadh and a
Distinction for The Glenlivet 18 YO from the Scottish Field
Whisky Challenge. At Whisky Magazines’ World Whiskies Awards
the company picked up a medal for Aberlour 12 YO, The
Glenlivet French Oak Reserve 15 YO and Royal Salute The
Hundred Cask.
Christian Porta, Chairman and
Chief Executive of Chivas Brothers said “It is a fantastic
achievement to win these awards and to gain recognition for
our talented Master Distillers and Master Blenders. The
awards reflect the rich heritage and experience at Chivas
Brothers. We very much hope our success will continue when
the Spirit of Speyside Awards are announced in May.”
Scottish Field Magazine has
been promoting exceptional whiskies to their readers through
their Whisky Merchants’ Challenge for the past six years.
The selection process involves eight judges blind tasting a
variety of whiskies within three different price bands –
under £30, between £30 and £50 and above £50. A’bunadh’s
Silver Medal and The Glenlivet 18 YO Distinction were
awarded within the £30 - £50 category.
The World Whiskies Awards,
organised annually by Whisky Magazine, aim to promote the
world’s best whiskies, while informing and educating the
consumer. Developed out of the bi-annual Best of the Best
tasting held since 2000, the World Whiskies Awards are
chaired by top whisky writer Dave Broom.
The results of the Spirit of
Speyside Awards are due to be announced at the Spirit of
Speyside Festival, which takes place in Scotland between 4th
and 6th May. Introduced at the 2005 Festival with
the support of Whisky Magazine, the Awards have become a
popular and prestigious feature of the festival.
