A
record number of professional, amateur and celebrity
golfers took part in The Chivas Life Snow Golf
Championship in St Moritz in January. Golf’s coolest and most
glamorous tournament attracted 150 people from 20
countries, including Former Ryder Cup captain Sam Torrance
and avid golf fan, supermodel Jodie Kidd.
The 2007 tournament, played
on a nine hole Alpine golf course 1800m above sea level,
marked the 28th year of the Snow Golf Championships, which
is part of Chivas Regal’s hugely successful Chivas Life
Series of inspiring events in extraordinary places.
Local
Swiss siblings Martin and Caroline Rominger achieved the
double with wins in the men’s and woman’s categories.
Martin, an Asia tour rookie, held off reigning Snow Golf
Champion Fernando Gonzales Castro from Spain to clinch the Chivas Regal
Trophy in the Men’s professional category. His sister,
playing with Jodie Kidd who finished tenth in the Ladies
Open Championship, took the title in the Woman’s amateur
category.

Now a regular on the Snow
Golf circuit, Jodie Kidd commented: “I had such a great
time at last year’s Chivas Snow Golf, I jumped at the
chance to come back again as soon as I got the invite.
Snow golf is very different to golf. Most of the typical
rules go out of the window but it’s lovely to do something
fun, unpredictable and different.”
The Chivas Snow Golf
Championship was also attended by consumers who won
tickets to the tournament following feature-led
promotional campaigns on the Chivas Life Series events in
British Airways’ Business Life Magazine, the Travel
Channel and GQ.com.

The next Snow Golf
Championship takes place in the exotic location of La
Parva, Chile in August
2007.
