The Glenrothes is to launch a prestigious new expression to its award-winning range at Cannes. The Glenrothes 25 Year Old will be available from specialist premium retailers at travel hubs serving The Glenrothes’ core markets as well as major international airports.

This launch follows on from the limited release Glenrothes 30 year old which sold out immediately upon release. John Ramsay, Malt Master at The Glenrothes, was asked to develop a new top-of-the-range expression exclusively for the important travel retail channel. Only 2,400 bottles have been released.

As Ronnie Cox says; “The Glenrothes 25 Year Old is a delicious whisky, exquisitely packaged. The Glenrothes has enjoyed 23% sales growth in its top six markets to date this year; I am confident that this new expression will maintain the trend in the increasingly significant sector that is travel retail.” Every expression of The Glenrothes is instantly recognisable from its distinctive bottle, and the Glenrothes 25 Year Old is not different, packaged in a frame made of copper and oak to reflect the distillation and maturation processes which create the whisky’s flavours.

The front label of each bottle carries the Malt Master’s tasting notes. For example The Glenrothes 25 Year Old is a marriage of hand-selected casks of rare and mature Glenrothes from different years, including 1967, 1972, 1977, 1979 – The Glenrothes centenary year provides much of the whisky for this bottling – and 1980, whose character is described as “Citrus, creamy vanilla and spicy”.

Appearance: Rich amber, clear and bright

Nose:          Cooked oranges, powerful and rich

Palate:        Rich, creamy oak, soft blood oranges and vanilla

Finish:         Very long, spicy, mature
