William Grant & Sons has launched a new version of its Glenfiddich Rare Collection 40 Year Old Single Malt in honour of the late Michael Jackson, whisky writer and broadcaster.
The first four vattings of Glenfiddich 40 year old were released between 2000 and 2007 and Michael had written tasting notes for each of these. This new release comprises of five casks selected by Glendiddich’s malt master David Stewart, that have been blended with the remnants of the previous vatting which contained whiskies first distilled more than 80 years ago. According to David Stewart “Michael was a true pioneer of whisky writing and we were always delighted when he crafted such precise and pertinent tasting notes.”
Bottled at the natural strength of 45.4% abv, the Glenfiddich Rare Collection 40 Year Old comes in a solid oak presentation box. The 600 number bottles are available from specialist retailers and the distillery shop.
Michael Jackson passed away last summer, aged 65 after a 10 year battle with Parkinson’s disease.
