NUMBER 1 BOTTLE OF JURA 40 YEAR OLD SINGLE MALT WHISKY

TO BE SOLD AT AUCTION

The first ever bottle of Jura 40 year old is to be sold via a silent auction at Harrods.

The whisky, which comes with a certificate of authenticity signed by Master Distiller Richard Paterson, is not only the first bottling of this exquisite liquid but it is also the last remaining of the 98 bottles produced. The silent auction commenced last Tuesday in Harrods on a day in which all things Scottish were celebrated in the world famous store.  ‘The Glorious 12th’ event saw the very first grouse of the season, shot and transported down from Scotland along with the Jura 40, both of which were proudly displayed in store among the other fine Scottish produce Harrods have to offer.  The Scottish theme runs in-store until the end of the month, whilst the auction culminates on the 23rd September at a dinner hosted by Richard Paterson.

Richard Paterson, Master Distiller commented; ‘This is a very special whisky indeed.  Filled to cask on the 12th November 1966, this whisky has been maturing on the beachfront of Jura for 40 years giving it great complexity in character.  It was an instant hit when we brought it out last year and almost sold out immediately. The bottle we are auctioning is a very rare and collectable malt in beautiful packaging with documents to prove its authenticity.  It would be a great investment buy, however I would not like to deter the receiver from opening it either, as it is also a fine dram of whisky!’

The whisky has a reserve price of £2,000.  Bids can be made in store up until the 23rd September.
