The Macallan Single Malt Scotch Whisky has recently launched an environmentally friendly, limited edition bottling, ‘Estate Oak’, exclusively into World Duty Free airports.
For each bottle sold, The Macallan will plant an oak tree on The Macallan Estate in Speyside, Scotland to support ongoing woodland regeneration in the area. Designed to renew and protect the environment, all ‘Estate Oak’ labels are certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and are from responsibly managed resources. To support this and to minimise waste the bottling comes without a carton.
The Macallan’s quality partly comes from the interaction of spirit and wood and it is the unfaltering obsession with selecting exceptional oak casks that delivers the wonderful variety of colour, aroma and flavour throughout The Macallan range.
Exclusively available at World Duty Free airport stores, ‘Estate Oak’ is matured in the finest European and American oak casks, some seasoned with sweet Oloroso sherry and others with the finest bourbon. Pale straw in colour, there are hints of coconut and vanilla on the nose, culminating in a soft, smooth finish with a lingering gentle touch of dried fruit.
William Ovens, The Edrington Group’s Global Travel Retail Area Director, adds: “Estate Oak is a fine example of the quality and dedication we put into our whiskies. We anticipate it will be a huge success with people wanting to make a difference to the environment whilst enjoying a great and very exclusive whisky.”
The Macallan Estate Oak is available in World Duty Free stores and priced at £34.99 per bottle.
