Highland Park is to launch its fifth Ambassador’s Cask – the final addition to the most successful and fastest selling limited edition bottlings in the Orkney brand’s 210-year history.

For this final edition, Gerry Tosh, Global Brand Ambassador, has selected cask 8845 – one of the finest examples of a refill sherry hogshead, which stood out in its year for the aromatic smoke, balanced with dried fruit sherry oak sweetness.

The 34 year old special edition is packed full of classic Highland Park aromas releasing a myriad of subtle characteristics as the whisky warms in your glass. The dried fruit sherry oak sweetness complements the aromatic peat smoke whilst the liquid teases notes of raisins, dates and dried plums to the palate with a long gentle smokey finish.

Gerry Tosh, Global Brand Ambassador, commented:  “I was really drawn to this particular cask and wanted to bottle it as the curtain call which would mark the incredible success of our Ambassador’s Cask series. The initial impact of this cask strength alcohol makes the lips and then the tongue tingle. The sides of the tongue start to dance and as the hidden citrus emerges, warmth permeates the whole of the mouth.”

The original cask was filled on 17 July 1974 and has been stored for over three decades at Highland Park - one of the most northerly Scotch whisky distilleries in the world. The first Ambassador’s Cask was released in 2005 and sold out within a few short months; this became a consistent trend for all of the limited edition single casks.

The recent expansion of the Highland Park range to include both 30 year old and 40 year old has been tremendously received by whisky connoisseurs all over the world and we have decided to stop releasing aged Ambassador’s Casks after this fifth and final instalment.”

Only 228 70cl bottles will be launched, at a cask strength of 41.5% ABV. Each of the Highland Park Ambassador’s Cask 5 bottles are sealed in a beautifully crafted wooden box and are available at the Kirkwall distillery and also online at www.highlandpark.co.uk (RRP £249).

Highland Park has introduced a new Connoisseur Tour for whisky fans visiting the distillery which includes a nosing and tasting of cask strength whisky selected from the warehouses.
