Balblair Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky – recently recognised for playing an integral part in parent company, Inver House Distillers’ impressive International Distiller of the Year win – has now launched a new website (www.balblair.com), designed to tell the story of the super-premium vintage malt on a global level.
Bringing the ethos of ‘Balblair: Devoted to Detail’ to life, the site offers whisky enthusiasts the chance to further discover its vintages – Balblair 1997, Balblair 1989 and Balblair 1975 – each of which is gaining an impressive reputation worldwide. From tasting notes and insights into its distillery in Edderton, to short films and up-to-date news, Balblair’s unique Pictish history, fresh, contemporary design and distinctive taste are vividly illustrated online.
One key subject explained by the site is the origin of Balblair’s superb quality: each vintage is specially hand-picked by Distillery Manager, John Macdonald, following a complex tasting and nosing at the distillery. During this process only the most excellent whiskies – those that have reached the peak of their perfection – are identified and named by the year of their casking, rather than simply the number of years the spirit has spent maturing.
Since its redesign and repositioning last year, Balblair has experienced an incredible twelve months, firmly establishing itself as ‘the’ quality choice for discerning whisky drinkers worldwide as well as in the UK. Having developed a network of modern, likeminded partners, including Jolomo (a contemporary Scottish artist), fashion house Mackintosh Rainwear, designers Timorous Beasties and publishers, Canongate Books, Balblair was recently described by Whisky Magazine as ‘shaking off the old fashioned Scottish image of whisky…replacing it with a modern contemporary approach without losing the heritage at its core’.
Margaret Mary Clarke, Brand Manager for Balblair, commented: “We are extremely proud of Balblair’s heritage and tradition, and know that by taking Balblair online, we can encourage whisky connoisseurs to look not only to its past, but also its future. “We have had a superb reaction to the re-launch of Balblair worldwide, and have made sure that the same care and attention that we devote to the quality of Balblair’s spirit is reflected in its new website. This online presence will raise Balblair’s profile and reputation further still during a time that is very exciting for the brand.” Developed by Blonde Digital in conjunction with The Leith Agency, Balblair: Devoted to Detail can be found online at www.balblair.com.
