The ski season is now in full flow and for those who insist on sophistication and style after hitting the slopes, The Macallan Fine Oak hot toddy is the ultimate après-ski treat. Even if you haven’t made it to the ski resort this year, the traditional Scottish whisky-based drink is a fantastic fireside warmer, long favoured for its fabled medicinal benefits in the fight against ailments such as the common cold.

To enjoy a hot toddy in its finest incarnation the finest ingredients must be used and what better than world’s most precious single malt Scotch whisky.

The Macallan Fine Oak 10 year old is triple cask matured in a combination of exceptional oak casks: European oak seasoned with sherry, American oak seasoned with sherry and American oak seasoned with bourbon for a smooth yet complex taste experience, making it the perfect base for a well balanced indulgence. Heather honey in the nose and a hint of fruit on the palate, with a finish that ensures it will marry perfectly in the glass.

There are many recipes for hot toddy but start with the basics-

 To a tall glass add:

  • 35 ml of The Macallan Fine Oak 10year old
  • A teaspoon of honey
  • Squeeze and drop in a wedge of lemon
  • Top with boiling water
  • Stir

To the basics almost anything can be added according to taste; cinnamon, cloves, ginger, sugar, nutmeg and orange.
