Forget the star-studded lineup's individual reputations, Rise is some of the purest, unapologetic and most enjoyable rock and roll of the year, made by masters of the craft and true fans of the form.

Alice mentions 'Lisbon' during 'Sweet Emotion', so assuming it isn`t made up of songs from different shows it must be a recording of the May 27th 2016 show in Lisbon, Portugal. I'm not sure it's important to name names; they were obviously men of varied talents and a collective oneness that came together under the umbrella of safety in numbers along with a fondness for channeling the ghosts of hedonists past.

There are however, in the spirit of the Vampires’ original mission, three covers of songs originally written and recorded by some fellow rockers who died far too young: an intimate and intense version of David Bowie’s “ Heroes”, beautifully performed by Johnny Depp; the late Jim Carroll Band’s “ People Who Died,” and Johnny Thunder’s “ You Can’t Put Your Arms Around A Memory ,” sung by Joe Perry. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average.

All in all much more satisfactory album then the first, with several great tracks including the very Cooper-esque 'Mr Spider'. Only the legendary Jeff Beck makes a musical appearance, so we're left to wonder what happened to the other names Alice mentioned!
